What we do
What can we help with?
Most problems we hear about turn out to be one of six shapes, or a mix of a few. They’re here so you can see the range. You don’t have to pick one.
Six shapes a problem can take
Not sure which one is yours? Good. That’s our job to work out, not yours. Tell us what’s annoying and we’ll take it from there.
Automation
Make repetitive work happen automatically.
If a person does the same steps in the same order every day, week or month, there's a good chance a computer can do most of it. We look at what actually happens, work out which parts are safe to hand off, and leave a person in charge of the parts that need judgment.
For example: Invoices arrive by email and land in your books without anyone retyping them.
Custom software
Build the program you wish already existed.
Sometimes nothing off the shelf fits the way you work, and you've been bending your business around a tool that almost does the job. We build small, focused programs that do exactly the thing you need and nothing you don't.
For example: A simple screen for your crew to log jobs, instead of a shared spreadsheet everyone's scared to touch.
Websites
Create or rebuild something people actually enjoy using.
Fast, clear, readable on a phone, and easy for you to keep up to date. We care more about whether your customers can do what they came to do than about how clever it looks.
For example: A site where customers can find your hours, your prices and a way to reach you in under ten seconds.
Connected systems
Help programs and services work together.
Most businesses run on a handful of programs that don't know about each other, with a person acting as the glue. We connect them so information moves once, correctly, without anyone copying it across.
For example: A new order in your shop shows up in your accounting and your shipping list on its own.
Data & documents
Reduce repetitive copying, sorting, searching and processing.
Forms, PDFs, scans, spreadsheets, inboxes. If your day involves finding the same few facts in a pile of documents and putting them somewhere else, that pile can usually be made to sort itself.
For example: Pull the same five details out of hundreds of PDFs and get one tidy table back.
Process improvement
Sometimes the answer isn't more software. Sometimes the process itself needs fixing.
We'll tell you when the honest answer is to stop doing a step, not to automate it. A simpler process beats a clever tool wrapped around a complicated one.
For example: Three approval steps that exist because of a problem from 2014 nobody remembers.
If yours doesn’t look like any of these, send it anyway. The list describes what we usually see, not what we’re willing to look at.
The honest part
What we won’t do
Not every annoyance needs a program written for it. A few things you can hold us to.
We won't automate something that isn't worth automating
If the fix would cost you more than the problem does, we'll tell you that, and you can spend the money on something better.
We won't sell you software you don't need
Sometimes a program you already own can do the job, or the step can simply go away. If that's the honest answer, that's the answer you'll get.
We won't make you pick the technology
You describe the problem in your own words. Working out what kind of fix it needs is our half of the job.
We won't take people out of decisions that need one
Computers are good at the boring, repeatable parts. The parts that need judgment stay with a person, usually you.
Got one in mind?
Describe it the way you’d complain about it to a friend. That’s plenty.
