The fine print
Terms
The rules for using this site and sending us a problem. Short, because there isn’t much to them.
Last updated: . This page changes as the way we work changes, and this date changes with it.
The short version
- Sending us a problem costs nothing and creates no obligation, for you or for us.
- No work starts and nothing is charged until you approve a written proposal that states the scope and the price.
- Every project gets its own written project terms. Those cover the work. These cover the website.
Who these terms are with
This site is run by Growing Research and Infrastructure Laboratories, LLC, a Kentucky limited liability company. We go by Growing Research Labs, or GRL. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don’t, that’s fine, but please don’t use the site.
Sending us a problem
Sending a problem is free. It doesn’t make you our client and it doesn’t oblige you to buy anything. It doesn’t oblige us either: we may tell you we can’t help, or that we don’t think a fix is worth what it would cost you.
What you send stays yours. You’re letting us read it and use it to understand your problem and reply to you, and that’s all. How it’s stored, who sees it and when it’s deleted is set out in Privacy and How we handle your data.
Please only send things you have the right to share. In particular, don’t send:
- passwords, full card numbers or other login and payment details;
- records you aren’t allowed to share, including other people’s private information;
- anything unlawful, or any file meant to cause harm.
Proposals and projects
If we think we can help, we’ll send you a written proposal that states what we’d build and what it would cost. No work starts and nothing is charged until you’ve approved it. You can say no, and you can ask for something smaller.
Each project has its own written project terms, agreed with you before work begins. If those terms and this page ever disagree about a project, the project terms win.
What this site does and doesn’t promise
The examples on this site are illustrations. They’re labeled as examples, and they aren’t promises about what we can do for you, how long it would take, or how much time or money it would save. Every problem is different. What we can realistically do for yours goes in your proposal.
We work to keep the site accurate and available, but it’s offered as it is. We can’t promise it will always be online or free of mistakes, and nothing on it is professional advice about your particular situation.
Using the site fairly
Don’t try to break the site, get into parts of it that aren’t meant for you, flood the form with automated submissions, or use it to send anyone harmful files. We may block access or discard submissions that do.
Our content
The words, design, illustrations and the A.N.T.O.N. character on this site belong to Growing Research and Infrastructure Laboratories, LLC. You’re welcome to link to the site and quote it fairly. Please ask before reusing anything more than that.
The law that applies
GRL is a Kentucky company, and these terms are governed by the laws of Kentucky, United States.
Changes
We may update these terms as the site and the lab change. The date at the top shows when that last happened. A project that’s already under way keeps the project terms it started with.
